The New Jersey Chapter of the Sierra Club has approximately 20,000 members, volunteers and activists organized into 8 regional groups. The New Jersey Chapter works on a variety of topics including, water, natural resources, wildlife and land related recreation. The Chapter is involved in preservation and conservation activities, including natural resource education, field outings and interpretation. The members conduct water quality monitoring, assessment and mapping throughout the eight regions. In addition, the New Jersey Sierra Club is actively involved in watershed policy and planning, water supply, water quality, land use, natural resource legislation, regulation, outreach and lobbying. Sierra also has a political committee which endorses candidates for elective office, and conducts voter education, activist training, and outreach programs.
