The Musconetcong Watershed Association (MWA) is a nonprofit organization formed in 1991 to protect and enhance the Musconetcong River and its related resources through educational programs, scientific research and riparian restoration projects. The MWA region spans the 157-square-mile Musconetcong River Watershed, which includes portions of four counties and all or portions of twenty-six municipalities. MWA is involved in a variety of outreach activities such as the river monitoring program, river cleanups and various ecological field trips which are free to the public. MWA is also leading a Musconetcong Watershed Characterization and Assessment project in conjunction with NJDEP, and is conducting a Wild and Scenic Rivers Study on the Musconetcong with the National Park Service.
