The primary goal of the New Jersey Coalition of Lake Associations (NJCOLA) is to educate members about lake management. The Coalition presents round-table discussions and offers programs on topics including algae and weed control, legal advise, engineering and dams, fund raising, goose control and watershed problems. NJCOLA provides information to Coalition members six times per year and is involved in community outreach and education activities such as water monitoring and cleanups. NJCOLA maintains communication with local, state and federal government regarding subjects which affect New Jersey’s lakes. One of the most notable education efforts is their Lake Curriculum Guides for Middle and High School teachers. The Guides provide excellent background material on the issues concerning lakes in New Jersey and activities for teachers to use in the classroom.
