The main goal of the Greenwood Lake Water Management District is to preserve and restore Greenwood Lake and its watershed. Following recommendations from a Phase 1 Diagnostic Study completed in 1983, the District is conducting weed harvesting, drawdown management , and storm water management projects both in New York and New Jersey. The District is currently involved in community educational outreach programs which include providing informational brochures and the District newsletter to the local citizens. In addition, the Greenwood Lake District provides curriculum to area schools dealing with topics such as Lake Ecology. This is the Lake Curriculum put out by the New Jersey Coalition of Lake Associations.
