United Water New Jersey provides water services to about 750,000 residents in Hudson and Bergen Counties. The Hackensack River is a main source of drinking water for residents in northern New Jersey. United Water New Jersey provides outreach and education programs to schools, community groups, and civic organizations within the Hackensack Watershed. United Water’s watershed recreational program invites community residents to fish, birdwatch and hike throughout the watershed area. United Water’s tour program and speakers bureau educates the public about watershed quality, conservation and the importance of watershed protection. Through partnerships with local schools and civic groups, United water participates in community projects such as storm drain marking and Earth Day celebrations. It is also a sponsor and host of Project WET workshops for teachers in the Hackensack Watershed area.
