The Freehold Soil Conservation District (FSCD), which covers Middlesex and Monmouth Counties, is part of the New Jersey Natural Resources Program. The District’s goal is to provide leadership and administer programs to help people conserve, improve and sustain our natural resources and environment. During land development, the District staff works to enforce the standards of the Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Act. The FSCD works to reduce the dangers caused by storm water runoff, to retard non-point source pollution, and to conserve and protect the land, water, air and other environmental resources of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties. Freehold District provides a variety of educational materials to schools, youth groups and service organizations, as well as a quarterly newsletter Conservation Connection. In addition, the District awards three $1,000 scholarships annually to college students from Middlesex or Monmouth County majoring in the field of Conservation or a related discipline. Internships are available for college students.
