The South Branch Watershed Association, Inc. (SBWA) is a regional, nonprofit environmental organization which has been working to protect and preserve the water resources of the South Branch Watershed and its environment since 1959. SBWA protects water resources through river monitoring programs, biannual stream cleanups, well water testing, environmental education and various programs with local schools and the community dealing with water related issues. Included in the Association’s many programs are the Hermia M. Lechner Internship Program which allows interns to gain valuable experience in the area of environmental science, and the Environmental Education Program which provides opportunities for the expansion of watershed monitoring and land use planning programs at local schools.
