Alliance for a Living Ocean (ALO) educates the public about the importance of maintaining water quality in the Atlantic Ocean, the Barnegat Bay, and the Barnegat Bay Estuary and Long Beach Island (LBI). This is achieved through numerous programs offered to local schools and the general public. The Crab Connection (a non-point source pollution prevention storm drain stenciling program), Adopt a Beach and the Barnegat Bay Watch Monitoring Program (with a demonstration about water quality) are incorporated into the ALO Eco-Tour of a Barrier Island. The public learns about the ocean and marine life through ALO's summer programs such as Inlet Lore, Seining Days, Stories-by-the-Sea and Inherit the Earth, which incorporates hands on workshops and field trips. ALO provides presentations such as Responsible Living on a Barrier Island to schools and community organizations.
