The Cape May county Department of Health has developed a program which will allow local citizens, government officials and businesses to access watershed management information using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software. This data will be available at public libraries throughout the county, where users will be able to analyze, display, and interactively map watershed data. The available data will include watershed delineation, land use/land cover, wellhead protection sites, bodies of water and surface water monitoring sites. As part of this project, public education and outreach programs will be provided dealing with both watershed management and GIS software. Training and seminars will be offered for geography and science teachers in Cape May County, as well as librarians and private sectors upon request.
