Did
You Know?
There
is the same amount of water on Earth today as there was millions
of years ago -- no more and no less. That's because water is
continually recycled in a process known as the “water
cycle.”
Every
body of water has a watershed and every watershed is someone’s
home. (To find your watershed address, click here.)
What
we do on land can very easily affect our water quality. It
wasn’t very long ago that people used to dump waste directly
into rivers, streams or the ocean. In fact, New Jersey used to
dump raw sewage directly into the ocean. People did not realize
that their actions would affect people, organisms, and animals
living downstream or in that habitat.
With
more people, more houses, more pets, more stores, more roads…
more of everything, we need more water.
With the need for more
water, it is up to us to use water in a responsible way.
